Bachelor of Humanitarian and Community Studies

If you’re passionate about helping others and promoting human welfare, you should consider a career in community development and humanitarian assistance. This theory-and-practise-based undergraduate course gives you the opportunity to learn, critically analyse and apply concepts of human service delivery in the field of international humanitarian aid, social and especially community engagement.

You will be able to apply theory into practice by completing two hands-on placements. In the second year of the program, students attend a four-week intensive placement (Introduction to Humanitarian Practice) at CDU’s Casuarina campus. RedR Australia is co-delivering this unit through incorporating one of its registered training courses which makes this unit unique and one of its kind in Australia.

In the third year of the program, students complete a 400 hour placement with a national, regional or international community-based, humanitarian or development aid agency to gain industry relevant, first-hand practical skills and experience.
